California man accused of pouring diesel fuel on neighbor's home claims he was trying to kill a ghost

A man in Stockton, California, has been arrested for attempted murder and arson after he was allegedly caught on camera pouring fuel on his neighbor's front door.

KTXL-TV reports the suspect is 38-year-old Cuong Pham, who lives across the street. The victim's mother says footage shows he tried to light the fuel before eventually walking away. According to the neighbor involved in the incident, the man reportedly told police he had seen a ghost and was trying to kill it.
Police discovered 2 gallons of diesel fuel all over the victim's front door. KTXL reports police told the family that if the suspect had poured gasoline, he would've killed himself along with the family inside. Two children, ages 3 and 10, were home when the incident happened, as well as several adults.

The man, who the neighbor says has a known drug addiction and mental health problems, also wants to apologize for his actions.
